2. Summary
Brady, J.T. and Digger are three teenage friends who live in the Chesapeake Bay region in Maryland. They have been very good friends for a long time. Tourists and people with “new money” begin moving in to the area and this upsets the friends, and even their families. When the DiAngelos move in, Brady finds he likes them and their young son, and even babysits for them from time to time. However, when the DiAngelos take their red kayak out on the water on a stormy morning and get disappear, it just might not be an accident. The events that follow might change Brady, J.T. and Digger forever.

5. Chapters 1-3 Introduce the main character, Brady
Building suspense that something happened that changed Brady’s life
Brady, Digger and J.T. saw Mr. Diangelo out in his kayak when waiting for their ride to school. Digger convinces Brady to say nothing about how dangerous it is.
Brady is called out of school by his father and finds out that Ben and Mrs. DiAngelo were the ones in the red kayak.

6. Chapters 4-5 Brady goes into the bay to help find the DiAngelos
Brady finds Ben with the help of Tilly
Ben is pulled out of the water and Brady gives him CPR while also driving the boat to the dock
Ben has a pulse!

7. Chapters 6-10 Ben has a pulse and is sent to the children’s hospital!
Brady is congratulated at school about being “a hero”
Brady’s mom pulls him out of school because Ben died
Brady and his dad go crabbing and he breaks down
