7 Philosophy of Education
“I believe that actively working with the students, as will the students with the teacher, about what the situation was, why it occurred, and what can be done to prevent the event from happening again, allows for students to develop both their communication and listening skills. Ultimately, this leads to having and showing respect to all those whom we come in contact. These skills can be generalized and transferred to all aspects of life. Providing opportunities for students to develop physically, socially, and emotionally promotes character building for the individual student.”

8 A separate homework night will be held in late October.
Homework Policy The following characteristics should be present in all homework as they are fundamental to its effectiveness: Purposeful - All homework assignments are meaningful. Students must understand the purpose of the assignment and why it is important in the context of their academic experience. Efficient - Homework should not take an inordinate amount of time and should require thinking. Well-structured assignments are adequately difficult to the individual student. Ownership - Students who feel connected to the content and process of the assignment learn more and are more motivated. Connecting assignments with student interest is also essential for promoting ownership. Competence - Students should feel competent in completing homework. Homework that students can’t do without help is not effective homework. Students are discouraged when they are unable to complete their homework. Homework should be differentiated so it is at the appropriate level of difficulty for individual students. Goal Oriented - Student, parent, and teacher should set measurable goals related to learning standards and homework is used as a vessel to meet such goals. A separate homework night will be held in late October.
