Everyone can play a role in preventing child abuse.
Research shows that parents with a strong network of emotionally supportive friends can better care for themselves and their children, preventing abuse and neglect. Ways to help build support systems:
Organize regular social events
Create special outreach activities for fathers, grandparents, and extended family members
Set aside a welcoming space for parents to mingle and talk
Provide workshops on parenting, cooking, health, and other topics of interest
Help parents overcome barriers by providing transportation and child care
