Two data sources were used: (1) retrospective analysis of endoscopy records over the period 1999–2005 (black bars); (2) analysis of pathology records for all diagnoses of cancer of the digestive tract over the same period (white bars). For colorectal cancer, only pathology records were available, as very few colonoscopy procedures were carried out over this time period.
