8 Upcoming additions to StandardsPortal – 2009 and beyond
ANSI will revise StandardsPortal in 2009 to include more new information and features: Information on conformity assessment in China “Directories” of U.S. conformity assessment bodies, U.S. government agencies Database of frequently asked questions ANSI will continue to expand StandardsPortal in 2009 and beyond to include information on the standardization systems of other priority markets around the world (e.g. Korea, Brazil, etc.)

9 Measures of Success Market Access Impact
Clear information on U.S. approaches to standards and conformance on StandardsPortal has been used as a tool to encourage transparency, reliance on private sector solutions (as opposed to top-down regulation), and other “best practices” in China, India and beyond. In 2008, China proposed a policy that would limit “foreign” (non-Chinese) companies’ voting rights on Chinese National standards development. StandardsPortal was used to demonstrate high degree of openness of standards development in the U.S., and helped to encourage China not to revise this problematic policy. Usage Users average 5-10 pages viewed per visit Over 150 users have signed up on StandardsPortal to indicate that they would like additional information and to receive updates on future expansion efforts Moving ahead, ANSI will work with partner “multiplier” organizations (e.g. U.S. Chamber, Foreign Commercial Service, etc.) to increase visibility of StandardsPortal – particularly among SME’s.

10 Measures of Success In 2008, ANSI compiled the following statistics showing general usage of StandardsPortal: Over 480,000 hits Averaged 1,500 visits per month Received almost 10,000 new visitors and 1,600 repeat visitors In addition, ANSI learned that Chinese users make up the largest user group.
