1 Film Improvements Frankie Vaz

2 Non diagetic music Non diagetic music is sound that has been edited in to the film to add certain emotions to the scene for example adding sound effects to the scene. Having done my first edit of the film I have made, I decided to add new features to the film in order to improve it. Firstly I decided to add non diagetic music to help create more tension and suspense to the clip, also it had a big effect when adding them to the jump scares. I had to look around to find specific soundtracks which I thought were suitable for my film, having searched on I found a variety of different sounds which I though would be useful for my film. Firstly, I used non diagetic film where the atmosphere changes when the doorbell goes off., because it wasn’t practical pressing the doorbell I decided to use non diagetic sound in order to make louder and make the audience understand the narrative better. I then used a sound clip when the ‘evil’ character puts his hand on the door. Adding this to the scene had a good impact and enhanced the scare factor, and intriguing the audience into the film more. For the main scare jump I also used non diagetic music, this started at the POV of the main character, I decided to use the sound effects to make the audience feel like something was going to happen, to create the feeling that the person was in danger. However, when he opened the cupboard no one was in there, creating a false sense of security to the audience. He looked away and then looked back fast, adding a high pitched noise to this made the jump much more effective as they didn’t expect it.

3 POV shots coming out of wardrobe
After looking back on my first edit I realised that a few errors were made with regards to the continuity of the film. Having looked over this scene the POV shot in the cupboard then changes to a shot outside the room, I felt that this didn’t give the audience a sense of worry and fear that it will show if I make the POV shot longer of me getting out the cupboard and me moving towards the door. In addition this will make the film flow better and make more sense.

4 POV shot looking round corner
In the final scene of the film, I walk downstairs and look to see if there is anyone in the house. My first draft is just one shot showing me looking into the different rooms, however I felt it would be more effective using POV shots to show my perspective, also this would make the scene more unsettling as it would show my perspective and would mean the audience would be on edge more, if they thought something was around the corner.
