1 EduCollaborate An initiative of BRIDGE and the Western Cape Education Department

2 Purpose The EduCollaborate Portal is a single consolidated map and database of who is working with school-going learners in-school hours and after-school hours. It is accessible to both government and NGO’s for the benefit of all EduCollaborate offers such a platform through: Transparently showing where both governmental and NGO after school activities are located in the Western Cape Allowing NGO’s to register and map the activity and services of their organisation for the benefit of the public Offer NGOs that register the opportunity to access learner CEMIS numbers of learners and then receive feedback on those learners performance Provide information on other organisations working in the same neighbourhood including government programmes through a GIS linked map and summary information boxes Relationship Information Knowledge Sharing Map View Educollaborate

The map is available for all those that visit the website Sites are linked to a school or centre Interactive pins allow the viewer to view site level details Educollaborate

5 EduCollaborate – My Organisation
Once you have registered you can begin to create your NGO profile My Organisation Basic details of your organisation are entered here – the who, what, when and how questions Not all questions are compulsory Not all answers are made public on the website Your organisation will be externally verified Educollaborate

The finer details of the programmes that are available Can be linked to a school or centre Helps to track multiple programmes that exist under a single organisation and the many sites that they impact Educollaborate

7 Once Verified - CEMIS Search Function
Verified NGOs can access the CEMIS Number Search functionality By inputting information on identified fields, a students CEMIS number can be accessed In order to protect any sensitive information, no additional information on the learner is accessible via the search function Educollaborate

9 Why Track by CEMIS Numbers
Centralised Educational Management Information System (CEMIS) Numbers are how WCED track learners from Grade 1 through to Grade 12. This links learners results throughout their schooling career. CEMIS numbers are unique for each student and are kept throughout their WCED student career Students will often have CEMIS numbers before ID numbers CEMIS numbers can be used transversally between government and non- government agencies to what activities a student is participating in Can be easily linked to students results and can thus help to measure impact across all activities Educollaborate

10 EduCollaborates Guiding Principles
Immediate feedback – details of login and password; once profile is validated; annual update requests Portal will be linked to newsflashes, information, or communal resources from both the governmental and NGO sector. Promote norms and standards in the after school sector and to better lay the foundation of After School activities in our schools. Opportunity for organisations to volunteer and share information and best practice amongst each other Educollaborate
