No recent updates Reminder that recently approved OONE bylaws will be updated with changes approved at the June OONE Board meeting Approval of changes made by membership to happen during annual meeting Article X, Terms of Office – Change the OHA Board and Ohio Hospital Clinical Advisory Committee liaisons to four year appointments which may be affirmed one time for a total of 8 years. Add the following to committee and chapter representative responsibilities 1. Submit written activity report at board meetings following approved format 2. Submit an annual report to the Secretary in advance of the board meeting as requested, following the approved format.

Last Engagement meeting held 7/21/17 OONE membership 1173 after a clean up of the roster for those that had left OHA organizations The OONE Board approved the draft letter for graduate nursing programs invites for OONE membership, included in the letter was the affiliate chapter leaders and the OONE map showing chapter locations AONE Fellows invitations sent for the OONE Board meeting in November, great opportunity to mentor future nurse leaders. Leadership and Aspiring Nurse Leader nominations were due to Jackie Silvis by September 1st. The Engagement Committee will be meeting September 22nd to review. Aspiring Nurse Leaders chosen by the Chapter will be invited to the November OONE Board meeting, recommendation to Chapters to provide financial support to chosen Aspiring Nurse Leader nominee for the chapter to attend the conference. The Nominating Committee presented the OONE Board will a potential slate of candidates for OONE Treasurer; candidates to submit bios and photo by September 1st. Ballot to be distributed electronically to members. Request for baskets to support the OONE Fall Conference will be sent in September, requesting that NEOONE provide funding for basket donations. Baskets and 50/50 raffle following dinner awards on Thursday evening of the conference.

NEOONE Member: Diane Sprankle, RN, MSN, NE-BC Akron Children’s OHA legislative Report State budget summary: Governor had $586 million cut to hospitals Governor vetoed Medicaid cap/freeze on new enrollees-OHA supported veto Legislation has not completed the override of the vetoes-process, so final outcome currently uncertain Governor vetoed 47 items in budget, 12 items currently in legislative override process State Medicaid director indicated a 7% cut to hospitals-meetings still being held between Medicaid and OHA to evaluate monies and hopefully reduce the 7% cut. Cuts will be in effect Jan 1st

NEOONE Member: Diane Sprankle, RN, MSN, NE-BC Akron Children’s OHA budget amendments status: Mandatory overtime not addressed-not including in budget Nurse staffing report-did pass as an amendment. Every 2 years hospitals will need to provide staffing reports to ODH, in addition to still providing to ONA. This starts March 2018 CRNA bill currently in process, striving for independent practice-at this point OHA is neutral on the bill

NEOONE Member: Diane Sprankle, RN, MSN, NE-BC Akron Children’s Transition to Practice-Residency program L & P put out a CNO survey 5 years ago with questions related to CNO demographics, education, status of position, and residency programs at CNO’s facility. L& P members developing a new survey that focuses on: Cost of programs/education RN turnover RN job satisfaction RN skill/competency level

27 Evidence-Based Practice Committee (OONE)
NEOONE Member: Kim Dougan RN, Aultman Hospital Tracy Brewer and Lisa Long are confirmed to be our guest speakers for the pre- conference session on Wednesday afternoon 3-5pm on EBP. 40 Poster abstracts submitted and 25 of those were approved using a scoring matrix. The committee did conclude that our this committee should provide education on how to write an abstract to our membership to those applying for poster and speaker presentations. Two committee members are going to provide a poster on how to write an abstract. Recommendations were also made to modify the formatting for the applications for the 2018 Conference to make it more user-friendly.  Next Steps: Phone call meeting to discuss poster setup and judging and identify a tool to be utilized to judge the posters. We currently have one but are trying to identify others. We do have a third room in the hotel this year for poster presentations The poster applicants who will be presenting posters are being notified by Jackie. Becky our Chair is working on sending out the notices of posters not accepted with brief constructive feedback.

31 OONE BOARD HIGHLIGHTS August 11, 2017
Revised HCAHPS questions regarding patient’s pain / pain management Discussed upcoming CNO Roundtable that will occur during Annual Meeting Joan Clarke, AONE President, will be presenting at that luncheon to the CNOs as well as providing a general session earlier in the morning for all attendees CNOs encouraged to attend – invitation forthcoming Review of the letter sent by Linda Breedlove on behalf of OONE to Congressman David Joyce requesting with holding support of the proposed National Nurses Act legislation (HR 1651) Reviewed ONA staffing series – staffing 101 and budgeting and the impact of nurse staffing OAC preparing workgroup summary with future needs. OAC will discuss next steps and vote on possible solutions. Funding should carry over into OONE rep will continue to update progress.

32 OONE BOARD HIGHLIGHTS Discussion and approval of proposed educational task force agenda and timeline which includes educational needs assessment Board mentorship – solicited members to participate in workgroup to develop process OBN nomination process– reviewed process for OBN nominations. Discussion on proposed ideas for OONE to nominate member to upcoming OBN seat. L&P leading this initiative and will make final recommendation to OONE Board. Work in progress but general support for initiative and process. Revenue Task Force – discussion on items for sale as revenue source OBN - >40% of RNs have renewed license Mandatory OT legislation did not pass but staffing plan information passed Hospital staffing plan to be reviewed every 2 years Staffing plans must be submitted to ODH by March (even numbered years)

33 Board Highlights Discussion on recent AG ruling on use of APRNs in acute care Academia and Practice have differing thoughts on APRN in acute care – FNP vs Acute Care APRN advisory committee will being to address issue and decide if there is agreement on the use of the Consensus Model Continue to monitor Opioid Repose – OHA initiative Collaboration to identify evidence based best practices and disseminate throughout the state Promote work that is being done in the state and identify resources and funding options Decreasing use of opioids, increasing transition to treatment and counseling, decreasing death
