1 RENAISSANCE PAINTING :
THE ANNUNCIATION

2 Why Renaissance? -Use of vanishing point -Chiaroscuro shading -Linear perspective -Proportional -Drapery of clothing portraying movement -Very natural and detailed

3 Scene of Annunciation The scene of annunciation was a popular theme for renaissance artwork, involving the Angel Gabriel and Mother Mary. In most depictions of the biblical scene, Gabriel is on the left and Mother Mary on the right. Another recurring theme in these pieces of art is Mother Mary being enclosed in a room to depict purity. To add contrast, another popular renaissance idea was windows with views of detailed landscapes. The artist used shading techniques to depict movement using the clothing of the characters. Angel Gabriel’s pose is particularly detailed by his drapery. Although in The Renaissance art became more secular, this painting is definitely religious.

4 Once Again: Definitely Renaissance
Although I do not know the name of the artist who painted the picture or the exact year it was painted, I think it’s safe to say that this is a painting of the Renaissance. Observe the tremendous detail compared to Medieval artwork.
