2 Concerns With Success Rates
Mathematics faculty recognized falling success rates and began having conversations of how to positively impact student performance. Mathematics Department Success 68.4% 66.1% 64.3% Shakitha

3 Strategies We knew high risk courses (high enrollment, low success) gave us the best opportunity to address low success rates, so we targeted our Algebra sequence and Developmental Mathematics courses. We used the following strategies: Lead instructors Common final exams Shared materials Student and instructor performance data analysis Shakitha

7 Professional Learning Communities (PLC)

8 Professional Learning Communities Overview
Professional learning communities (PLC’s) seemed to be a strategy to address many faculty concerns. Faculty are scheduled to teach only one high risk course and the rest of their load comes from other courses. Faculty have a designated time each week to meet with their PLC to discuss data, most promising practices, and course materials. The department chair attends each PLC meeting to provide further support. Emily
