What is the Business Customer Gateway (BCG)?
The Business Customer Gateway provides a single entry point for Postal Service® online business services. Access to multiple services is provided through a single user name and password. By a show of hands how many of you are already registered on the Business Customer Gateway?? That’s Great! For those of you that are not… I am going to show you how to register online. It’s quick and easy! The Business Customer Gateway or (BCG) provides a single entry point for customers to use our Business Services online. Mailers have access to multiple services that are provided through a SINGLE USERNAME and PASSWORD. BCG Account

Common Terms and Definitions
Uses Electronic Documentation (eDoc) Electronic mailing Information that replaces the use of hardcopy postage statements and supporting documentation (e.g. the qualification report) with electronic submission eDoc is a requirement for Full-Service Customer Registration ID (CRID) A unique ID number issued by USPS to identify a customer’s physical business location (address) Used to identify Mail Owners and Mail Preparers within eDoc Used to determine to whom mailing information and reports should be distributed Mailer ID (MID) A six- or nine-digit number issued by USPS to a mail owner or mail service provider. Used in IMb barcodes Also used to identify Mail Owners and Mail Preparers within eDoc Business Services Services that cover basic business functionality within the BCG Depending on your company’s needs, different employees may need access to different services Access to services is regulated by the Business Service Administrator (BSA) of each service Used to obtain access to certain functionality within the BCG Business Service Administrator (BSA) If you are the first user to request a service for your location, you will become the Business Service Administrator (BSA) of that service; you will be able to manage that service for any future users, controlling who can and cannot use it at your business location Role used to grant or deny other users access to a business service/functionality within the BCG Some of the common TERMS and DEFINITIONS associated with the BCG are: Electronic Documentation aka eDOC – replaces the use of hardcopy postage statements and supporting documentation (eg. Qualification Report) when mail is presented to the BMEU. eDOC is a requirement for mailers doing Full-Service. Customer Registration ID (CRID) is a unique # assigned by the Postal Service to identify a mailer’s physical business location (address). The CRID is used to identify Mail Owners and Mail Service Providers (MSPs) within eDOC. Mailer ID (MID) is a 6 or 9 digit # assigned by the Postal Service to identify Mail Owners and (MSPs) and is used in the IMb when submitting eDOC. Based on mail volume, customers mailing 10M + pieces annually are assigned a 6-digit MID; Customers mailing less than 10M pieces or newly assigned permit holders are assigned a 9-Digit MID. Business Services – Are Services that are used within the BCG for customer use. Business Service Administrator (BSA) – is a mailer who FIRST SIGNS UP to request a specific service (Ex: MID) for a business location. The mailer is AUTOMATICALLY assigned the role as BSA. As the BSA, if another employee requests that service, the BSA has the authority to grant / deny that request. Introduction

What can the BCG do for Customers?
Customers can utilize the BCG for a variety of services such as: Prepare, track and monitor mailings Manage Mailer IDs and permits Target areas with Direct Mail Send and manage large shipments Order mailing and shipping labels Enroll for Shipping Services Generate mail and transaction history reports Stay informed of USPS promotions and incentive programs Complete PS Form 3526 (Statement of Ownership) Apply for Nonprofit authorization (PS Form 3624) Note: There are a multitude of other services available on the BCG!! READ SLIDE……. Periodical mailers can submit PS Form 3526 (Statement of Ownership) required to be filed by October 1st each year at the Original Entry Office online. There is no longer a need to mail this form to Business Mail Entry. Like wise, mailers looking to apply for Nonprofit status with the USPS can submit their application (PS Form 3624) and supporting documentation through the BCG.

New User: 2) Complete Registration Form
To establish a new account, create a user name, password and two security questions Enter name, business information, phone number and address To establish a new account, create a user name, password and two security questions. Enter your name, company name and address, be sure to include your secondary address (Floor #, Room #, Suite #), phone number and address. This information will be used to create a CRID for you upon completion of the registration process. After reviewing the Privacy Policy, click on “Create Account” and a Confirmation will be sent to your address. New User: 3) Terms and Conditions
Business services are used to obtain access to basic functionality within the BCG. The first user at a business location to request a particular service will become the Business Service Administrator (BSA) for that application or service. They are in charge of managing who can and cannot use a service at a business location. A business service allows a mailer to monitor balances & fees, manage permit information for business locations, submit their mailing information and postage statements electronically or provide access to schedule a mailing appointment. All users must agree to the Terms and Conditions, which can be viewed and printed from the link shown here As a reminder the…. FIRST USER at a Business Location to request a particular service becomes the Business Service Administrator (BSA) for that application or service. The BSA manages that service at a BUSINESS LOCATION and controls who can and cannot use that service based on their request. All users must agree to the Terms and Conditions, which can be viewed (and printed, if desired) from the link underlined in blue. Clicking “Continue” takes the new user to the Confirmation Page. Clicking Continue takes the new user to a Confirmation Page BCG Account 8

Confirmation Page: CRIDs and MIDs
When a new business account is created, a CRID is automatically assigned During registration, new business locations will automatically be assigned a 9-digit Mailer ID In the top of the Confirmation Page, you see the CRID # and a 9-digit MID that is AUTOMATICALLY ASSIGNED to the new account. Remember the CRID is a unique ID number assigned by USPS to identify a customer’s physical business location (address). If you are a Mail Service Provider (MSP) and act as a mailing agent for your clients, you must check YES under “Is this location a MSP?” The MSP indicator is displayed. Only users who are BSA of Manage Mail Activity will be asked this question. BCG Account 9 9

New business users will be eligible to use popular business applications as well to as access other services. New business users will ben enrolled to use “popular” business applications or services. Example: Automated Business Reply Mail Balance and Fees Dashboard (Postal One) Every Door Direct Mail Intelligent Mail Small Business Tool (IMsb) Manage Permits (Postal One) Postal Wizard (Postal One) Toward the bottom of the Confirmation Page you will see the List of Services which the new user is eligible to use and has immediate access. BCG Overview - Linking Your Permits
Before you can view any of your mailing information, you must link your BCG account to your mailing permit(s). There are two ways to establish this link. If you are an existing USPS customer with a history of payment transactions, you can click on “Mailing Service” and then under the “Manage Permits Postal One!”, click on “GO TO SERVICE”. If you are a new USPS customer and do not have any historical payment transactions, you should contact the Help Desk for assistance at , OPTION 3 Before you can view any of your mailing information, you must establish a link between your new BCG account and your mailing permit(s). There are two ways to establish this link: Utilize the BCG: Existing Customers - Click Mailing Service Go to the “Manage Permits” (Postal One!) Click On GO TO SERVICE Contact the Help Desk for assistance at , Option 3 BCG Account

BCG – Linking Your Permits
Link permits to the BCG account. Go to “Manage Permits” under “Mailing Services”. Customers will select their Business Name by clicking the link in the ‘Name’ column. They will be taken to the following page Under ASSOCIATED BUSINESS LOCATIONS The Company Name is displayed. Click on the “Blue Hyperlink”. After clicking on hyperlink, the customer will be taken to the Business Location Page to enter the required information located under the “PERMIT VALIDATION” tab.

BCG - Linking Permits-con’t
Scroll to the bottom and select the ‘Permit Validation’ tab. Enter the Permit Number, Permit Type, Post Office of Mailing ZIP code (5 digit) and enter the Amount of one of the last 10 transactions on this account. Example: For a fee payment of $225.00, enter or the exact amount they paid. Customers will enter their permit information and click ‘Validate’. NOTE: Only the Business Service Administrator can access this tab Under the PERMIT VALIDATION tab Enter the permit number and type (PERMIT IMPRINT; METER OR PRECANCELED STAMPS). Enter the BMEU ZIP code, not the customers ZIP. Enter the amount of ONE of the last 10 transactions. Sometimes you can put in $0.00 as the dollar amount. If this doesn’t work, you must contact the PostalOne! Help Desk and ask them to link the permit at Once the information has been entered click on VALIDATE. ONLY the BSA can access this tab.

BCG – Balance & Fees To monitor Balances & Fees associated to permit or Periodical accounts, under “Mailing Services” select “Balance and Fees” - ”GO TO SERIVCE” To monitor Balances & Fees associated to permit or Periodical accounts, under “Mailing Services” select Balance and Fees, then ”GO TO SERVICE” VIEW CALENDAR - lets you know when fees are due to expire within the next (3) months SET LOW BALANCE ALERT – can put in a $ amount to alert you to deposit additional funds RECEIVE FEE NOTICE – if you elect to receive a fee renewal notices electronically the USPS can discontinue sending hardcopy renewal notices.

The Favorite Services panel allows you to quickly access your most often used services from most pages in the Business Customer Gateway. This is the landing pages for Existing USERS. The FAVORITE SERVICES PANEL shown on the right allows you to quickly access your most often used services from most pages in the Business Customer Gateway. You can edit your FAVORITES by clicking on EDIT FAVORITES.

BCG Mailing Reports – Mailer Scorecard
The Mailing Reports Page has links to several reports for feedback and data quality. The Mailer Scorecard includes information on the status of mail quality for Full-Service mailings. To access Mailing Reports on the BCG go to Mailing Services, then click on Mailing Reports Postal One! – then GO TO SERVICE. The “Mailing Reports Page” has links to several reports for feedback and data quality. For an example, the Mailer Scorecard, includes information on the status of mail quality for Full-Service mailings. For easy access you can make the “Manage Reports Postal One! Tab part of your “Favorites”. For those mailers that do Full-Service you should be reviewing your Mailer Scorecard regularly to ensure you maintain the established threshold levels and to correct any errors that will cause assessment charges on those pieces “exceeding” the threshold level. The Mailer Scorecard provides a dashboard view summarizing performance, allowing comparisons across facilities. It is available for any mailer submitting eDoc. Changes in metrics since previous month are highlighted Green: metric has improved by more than 5% Red: metric as declined by more than 5% Yellow: metric exceeds USPS threshold The Mailer Scorecard provides a summary of information about a customers’ mail performance. In this high-speed tech savvy environment - ALL COMMERICAL MAILERS SHOULD BE SUBMITTING THEIR POSTAGE STATEMENTS ELECTRONICALLY USING MAIL.DAT, MAIL.XML, OR POSTAL WIZARD TO THE BMEU. HARDCOPY POSTAGE STATEMENTS ARE REALLY A THING OF THE PAST. For those mailers that are still presenting hardcopy postage statements, our Mailing Requirements personnel will be happy to work with you to get you on board. Please contact our office at A feature of the Mailer Scorecard is the display of color-coded values. If a value is displayed in “GREEN”, this means that the monthly performance within a metric has “IMPROVED” BY MORE THAN 5%. If the value is displayed in “RED”, the monthly performance within the metric has “DECLINED” BY MORE THAN 5%. If the value is displayed in “YELLOW”, the monthly performance “EXCEEDED” A THRESHOLD LEVEL. How many of you review your MAILER SCORECARD regularly?

Informed Delivery (IV) provides one-stop shop for all your mail visibility needs. Track mailpieces in near real time for letter and flat-size pieces, bundles and handling units (trays, tubs, sacks), and containers. Access reports, performance metrics IV Customer Help Desk: Phone: , Option 2 INFORMED VISIBILITY provides an advantage of NEAR REAL-TIME visibility for letter-size and flat-size pieces that are BUNDLED and placed in HANDLING UNITS (eg. trays, sacks, tubs) within CONTAINERS (eg. pallets, hampers, or All Purpose Containers (APCs) when the mail is SCANNED. Online free notification service that gives residential customers the ability to see a preview of their automation letter-size mail they can “expect to receive” before it arrives in their mailbox. USPS sends a digital image in grayscale of the outside of the mailpiece. Image is automatically sent each morning by notification and USPS online Dashboard. Currently available in 31,000 Zip Code locations nationwide with a growing user base. INFORMED DELIVERY is a FREE notification SERVICE that gives residential customers the ability to see a preview of their AUTOMATION “LETTER-SIZE MAIL” they can expect to receive “before” it arrives in their mailbox. READ SLIDE….. By providing advance notification of expected mail delivery before the piece arrives increases the flow of information and CALL TO ACTION before mail hits your mailbox. Through DASHBOARD activities – you can manage packages, receive USPS tracking updates for incoming packages, provide delivery instructions, manage notifications and schedule redelivery. Only letter-size mail – the plan is to include images of larger flat-sized pieces such as magazines / catalogs in the future.

Passport Update – Domestic Air Travel
Real ID Act – passed by Congress in 2015, the REAL ID ACT was enacted by the 9/11 Commission’s recommendation that the Federal Government set standards for acceptable forms used for identification (eg: driver’s licenses) when flying domestically to inhibit terrorists’ ability to evade detection by using fraudulent ID. Starting January 22, 2018 adults passengers 18 years of age and older flying domestically within the US must show valid identification at Airport Checkpoints in order to board their flight. U.S. Passport U.S. Passport Card DHS trusted traveler cards (Global Entry, NEXUS, SENTRI, FAST) U.S. military ID (active duty or retired military and their dependents, and DoD civilians) Permanent resident card Border crossing card The REAL ID ACT was passed by Congress in It was enacted by the 9/11 Commission that the Federal Gov’t set standards for acceptable forms of identification (eg: Drivers Licenses) when flying domestically. This ACT was put in place in an effort to prevent terrorists from using fraudulent identification. The USPS Retail Customer Appointment Scheduler (RCAS) Tool is available for scheduling first-time passport application appointments online. Available through USPS.COM Select a day and Post Office location Provide the number of family members Provide the City and State or Zip Code Schedule, view and cancel appointments Users receive notifications about their scheduled appointment throughout the appointment process Website: The USPS processes millions of passport applications each year through walk-in and by appointment.
