1 Welcome to Maturation Hello my name is Carrie Ann Kemp and I would like to welcome you all today’s presentation. Thank you parents for coming to this presentation on maturation. We sincerely hope that this presentation will be helpful to your fifth graders and facilitate family conversations on this topic. Maturation became an official part of the elementary health curriculum approximately 20 years ago (1997). According to state rule the goal of maturation programs is to “convey accurate information regarding the physical and emotional changes associated with puberty, to assist in protecting students from abuse and to promote hygiene and good health practices.” This presentation falls squarely within the parameters of Utah’s Elementary Health Standards.
