ISANS is a leading community organization that welcomes immigrants to Nova Scotia. Working in partnership, we offer services & create opportunities to help immigrants to participate fully in Canadian life.

The Community Connections Program is designed to help newcomers integrate and gain a sense of connection to their new community.

Cultural Safety: are programs/spaces culturally safe? how can we incorporate knowledge from the immigrant community into the design of our programs? building intercultural competence within our organizations (i.e., training); Recruiting culturally diverse and multilingual staff and volunteers)
(the registration process can be very cumbersome for those with limited English language ability; online and telephone registration is designed for those who speak the dominant language and know how to navigate the system; more unstructured play opportunities that do not require formal registration, providing orientation of services/club/sport).
