2 Why be an officer for VHIO?
Take leadership initiative in VHIO and input your ideas Be more involved in VHIO as well as broader campaigns (e.g. SFHBF) Reach out and establish a network with local health organizations Work with a group of very passionate students

3 What if I feel like I don’t have enough experience with VHIO yet?
Don’t worry – just apply We look for applicants with a genuine passion for VHIO We realize our interning process is early and extensive, so many people will be in the same situation We are looking for future leaders in VHIO 

4 Officer Position Descriptions

5 Mt. Zion Coordinator (1) Coordinate with UCSF volunteer coordinator to organize new volunteer orientation, health clearance, ID badge Send out sign-up forms and arrange transportation to clinic Coordinate volunteers at clinic Work with UCSF student coordinators to manage clinic flow and conduct surveys Post clinic update

6 Mt. Zion Coordinator, continued
One new officer Someone who is : organized responsible & committed well-rounded volunteers from any language groups are welcomed!

7 Expand the partnerships that VHIO has
PR/Outreach Chair (1) Expand the partnerships that VHIO has Help set up new clinics for our volunteers Find other student organizations on campus to partner up with Follow up with current partnerships Be willing to help coordinate new clinics in the beginning

8 Vietnamese Outreach (1)
Duties: Head Outreach Meetings Help find clinics for Vietnamese volunteers Keep in touch with current partners Delegate tasks to sub-committees Participate in sub-committee activities

10 Decal Facilitators(2) (Tentative) Fall Semester: 1 Decal Class/Week
2 hours/week (first hour is lecture and second half is language practice) Prepare and teach lecture Coordinate language coaches, activities, and midterms Spring Semester: 3 Education Workshops

Good communication and teamwork skills Able to organize time well and be committed to the DeCal schedule Public speaking not a must! You’ll get a lot of practice and get better.

12 Spanish Coordinator(2)
As a Spanish coordinator you must participate and organize: Spanish Member Recruitment Publicize for Spanish Volunteers Read applications, conduct interviews and select volunteers Spanish Decal section Create assignments, quizzes, facilitate role play, provide additional information in order for volunteers to be better qualified Spanish Outreach Look for events to volunteer at and try to establish clinics Events for Spanish Department Stay in contact with Preceptor

13 Spanish coordinator, continued
Qualifications: Spanish Speaking Organizational skills Communication skills Professional Expectations: 3-5 hours/week on average; this includes DeCal, outreaching and meetings. Staying in contact with other Spanish coordinators Outreaching and developing new projects Creating agendas for the spanish department Internship Assisting with all activities and being part of outreach.  You will be assigned a few duties such as contacting organizations and leading a workshop session Plan the semester with Spanish coordinators

14 Secretary (1) Coordinates recruitment events and logistics
Organizes and updates attendance sheets and mailing lists for different language groups Takes minutes at officer meetings Makes the monthly newsletter with officer updates and upcoming events

Early-mid Jan – officer applications available online (will be ed and posted on website) Jan 31 – Officer applications due Early February – notification of interning process if selected March, April, May – interning process Early May – Officer transition
