2 Experiment Working with your group, determine what happens when both of the poles on the magnet labeled “N” are touching, or both of the poles on the magnet labeled “S.” Determine what happens when you try to match up the opposite ends of the poles of the magnets with one another “N S or S  N” What happens to the magnets in both situations?

3 1. A magnet is an object or a material that can attract metals containing iron, nickel, or cobalt.

4 2. Magnets can attract and repel each other.
