Innovation from the beginning
We are the owners of the “Ranchslider” trademark, a term that has become common when people talk about sliding doors . Here is an ad from the 1960,s promoting the Ranchslider. The Ranchslider was a great innovation for its time and some of you may still have one in your house or batch today. Smartfit® Future proofing windows and doors.
Future proofing windows and doors has a lot of meanings and can be connected to; Building better cities and communities Improved productivity Improving the Performance of existing buildings Improving the performance of materials Meeting New Zealanders housing needs for the future Windows come across all of these headings and I believe play a major role in delivering the positive outcomes that we are focused on achieving today. We spent most of the early part of the 2000’s coming up with products that were fantastic looking, with unreal performance and were jam packed with USP’s . ( Eurosliders , Foldbacks etc) In the last four years we developed a particular interest in pre fabrication, productivity and efficiency. Not just thermal efficiency but efficiency right throughout the supply chain, including the manufacture and installation of window & door systems. Smartfit® Future proofing windows and doors. Smartfit® Innovation Our latest innovation is Smartfit – which is a safer and faster way to install windows into houses The NZ building code evolved very quickly in the earlier part of the 2000’s because of the leaky homes crisis. What we saw was lots of complexity in a window opening to bring the three building elements together in a better way. The timber stick framed opening The window system The cladding The NZBC detailing was the band aid that joined them all together But in a new way that was supposed to be weathertight – if everything is done right. But There is the problem – complexity conspires against success. There is six layers of protection between the wet parts of a window and the timber framing, all not quite working together. What I’ll show you now is a giant leap in terms of getting windows into buildings much quicker and safer. Smartfit® a new faster, safer way of installing windows and doors PrefabNZ Presentation | 29 October 2015 Building Officials Institute of New Zealand – Auckland Branch Meeting | 20/08/14

Smartfit® Conception Smartfit® was driven by a few evolving market factors Pent up demand for housing stock Increased research into efficient prefabrication A response to the complexity and risk in a window opening The catalyst for us to drive builder conversion So, why did we think we needed to do it? As well as Decomplexitising the window installation process , these other factors presented themselves…………………. Appraisals & Certifications
So how do we comply? Smartfit is an alternative solution to E2 AS1 Branz Appraisal. We were very happy to have BRANZ on board with such an exciting project and because it was quite ground breaking in terms of window installations, we were keen to tap into BRANZ’s expertise to make sure that we had everything covered. Code mark. We are pleased to have the only window system in NZ with Code mark approval Codemark means no building authority / BCA can reject Smartfit Smartfit was the first window we have tested dry in our test booth in over 30 years (VM1- Verification Method 1). Smartfit® is the only window installation system in New Zealand to be awarded CodeMark CodeMark means that the product is automatically accepted as being fully compliant with NZBC Scientifically proven Smartfit® windows comply with NZS 4211 PrefabNZ Presentation | 29 October 2015 Building Officials Institute of New Zealand – Auckland Branch Meeting | 20/08/14

Ideal solution for increased onsite efficiency
Retirement villages are an ideal candidate for Smartifit®: As they’re generally made up of repetitive window configurations, which suits CNC window and door manufacture. They have scale and volume. They are time and budget conscious. Prefabricated building methods are becoming more popular: In a prefabrication environment Smartfit® windows can be installed as one complete unit. Perfect for the prefabrication methodology of efficient construction. A provision for installation inspection can be issued meaning they are automatically signed off before the wall panels with the windows and doors leave the factory. + PrefabNZ Presentation | 29 October 2015 Building Officials Institute of New Zealand – Auckland Branch Meeting | 20/08/14
