Oil Spill Commander Assess the situation Determine incident objectives and strategy Establish the immediate priorities Establish an Incident Command Post Establish an appropriate organisation Ensure planning meetings are scheduled as required continued..

11 Oil Spill Commander Approve and authorise the implementation of an Incident Action Plan Ensure that adequate safety measures are in place Co-ordinate activity for all Command and General Staff Co-ordinate with key people and officials Approve requests for additional resources or for the release of resources continued.

12 Oil Spill Commander Keep agency administrator informed of incident status Approve the use of trainees, volunteers, and auxiliary personnel Authorise release of information to the news media Order the demobilisation of the incident when appropriate

Treat when possible Clean the coastline Store and dispose the recovered products Maintain unit log 8

14 Supervise preparation of the Incident Action Plan
Planning Section Collect and process situation information about the incident (documentation) Supervise preparation of the Incident Action Plan Determine need for any specialised resources in support of the incident continued. 9
