6 Emotion accompanying His Affection
Zechariah 2:8 whoever touches you touches the apple of [My] eye

7 John 2:13-22 When it was almost time for the Jewish Passover, Jesus went up to Jerusalem. …

8 John 2:13-22 In the temple courts he found men selling cattle, sheep and doves, and others sitting at tables exchanging money. So he made a whip out of cords, and drove all from the temple area, both sheep and cattle; he scattered the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables.

9 John 2:13-22 To those who sold doves he said, “Get these out of here! How dare you turn my Father’s house into a market!” His disciples remembered that it is written: “Zeal for your house will consume me.”

10 John 2:13-22 Then the Jews demanded of him, “What miraculous sign can you show us to prove your authority to do all this?” Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and I will raise it again in three days.”

11 John 2:13-22 The Jews replied, “It has taken forty-six years to build this temple, and you are going to raise it in three days?” But the temple he had spoken of was his body.

12 John 2:13-22 After he was raised from the dead, his disciples recalled what he had said. Then they believed the Scripture and the words that Jesus had spoken.

13 Why this Zeal for the Temple?
Zeal for your house will consume me.

14 Why this Zeal for the Temple?
Zeal for your house will consume me.

15 1. The Temple was the only way to God
God gave Moses instructions to build the tabernacle The temple is designed according to the tabernacle

16 1. The Temple was the only way to God
God gave Moses instructions to build the tabernacle The temple is designed according to the tabernacle God was with them, and they could come to God

17 2. The Temple had to be Pure
Hebrews 12:14 Strive… for the holiness without which no one will see the Lord. Hebrews 8:5 a sanctuary that is a copy and shadow of what is in heaven

18 2. The Temple had to be Pure
Psalm 24:3-4 Who shall ascend the hill of the LORD? And who shall stand in his holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not lift up his soul to what is false and does not swear deceitfully.

19 2. The Temple had to be Pure
What’s wrong with selling animals?

20 Why this Zeal for the Temple?
The temple was the only way to God but it had become defiled

21 Still, why this Zeal for the Temple…
…if the temple was going to be destroyed in AD70 anyway.

22 Still, why this Zeal for the Temple…
…if the temple was going to be destroyed in AD70 anyway. Because He is Zealous to Save. He Loves me.

23 The True Temple: Jesus Christ
John 2:19,20 Destroy this temple, and I will raise it again in three days … “the temple of His body” He is the Only way to God (John 14:6) He has made us Pure once for all (Hebrews 10:10)

24 The Zeal of Christ saves us.
Zeal for your house will consume me.

25 These things are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing, you may have life in His name.
