3 Accidents/Near Miss Reporting
ALL accidents must be reported using college form found under H&S Heading/Accidents Form is available on the intranet and also from the Student Services office on all sites Reporting of near misses very important – use the same form Serious accidents should be reported IMMEDIATELY to the H&S Manager (ext. 7497) or mobile or the Duty Manager if unavailable Health and Safety Intranet Documents >>

5 Duty Managers Duty Managers are designated mangers who take on the role of ‘Responsible person’ on site, in the event of any kind of emergency situation. A late duty manager is available from 5pm – 9pm every weekday evening, located in the Student Services office of each main building. Note: The Duty Manager Rota is available on the Intranet home page under the noticeboard panel

6 Fire & Evacuation Do not attempt to put out fires unless you have been trained to use the fire extinguishers Leave the building by the nearest, safe exit – this may not be the way that you came in to the building! Go to your designated assembly point Do not re-enter the building until informed to do so

7 Hazard spotting If urgent & building related – notify the facilities team on site If not urgent – report it on the Facilities Call logger system If related to your work or your own equipment then inform your line manager Be aware of your own work areas: Tripping hazards (bags, electrical leads, etc) Spillages, wet floors Manual Handling Blocked fire exits, etc. Most importantly….DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!! “SEE SOMETHING SAY SOMETHING”
