“Standard” English (LWC) as we know it is the result of invasion, struggle, assimilation, and technology.
What counts as “standard” or “proper” English is determined by the winners in historical struggles and who had control of technologies.
AAVE/Ebonics too has a history: invasion/subjugation, struggle, cultural pride
All forms of language are cultural identifiers.
