4 The Book of Job Our Goal We try to understand as much as possible, not only why we live in a world of evil, but more important, how we are to live in such a world.

6 Job’s Redeemer The Book of Job Lesson 12, December 17
Ang Manunubos ni Job

7 Job’s Redeemer Key Text Isaiah 53:4 NKJV “Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted.” Susing Talata.

8 In Jesus alone we find answers.
Job’s Redeemer Initial Words There is something unsettling about the story. God and Satan, arguing in heaven, battle it out here on earth in the life and flesh of poor Job? It just doesn’t seem right, that Job would have to bear the terrible brunt of this conflict, while the Lord remained in heaven and simply watched it. In Jesus alone we find answers. Panimulang Salita.

9 1. My Redeemer Lives (Job 19:25-27) 2. The Son of Man (Job 10:4, 5)
Job’s Redeemer Quick Look 1. My Redeemer Lives (Job 19:25-27) 2. The Son of Man (Job 10:4, 5) 3. A Substitute Needed (Luke 9:22) 1. Ang Aking Manunubos ay Nabubuhay (Job 19:25-27) 2. Ang Anak ng Tao (Job 10:4, 5) 3. Kinailangan ang isang Kahalili (Luke 9:22)

10 Job’s Redeemer 1. My Redeemer Lives Job 19:25-27 NKJV “ ‘For I know that my Redeemer lives, and He shall stand at last on the earth; and after my skin is destroyed, this I know, then in my flesh I shall see God. Whom I shall see for myself, and my eyes shall behold, and not another, how my heart yearns within me!’ ” 1. ” (Job 19:25-27).

11 1. My Redeemer Lives Another Crucial Role These words of Job point to what is the most crucial and important truth in the Bible: God as our Redeemer. Yes, God is our Creator. But in a fallen world, in a world of sinners doomed to die eternally in their sins, we need more than a Creator.

12 We need a Redeemer, as well.
1. My Redeemer Lives Another Crucial Role We need a Redeemer, as well. And that’s precisely who our God is: both our Creator and our Redeemer (see Isa. 48:13–17), and it’s from Him in both those roles that we have the great hope of eternal life.

13 The allusion to Genesis 1:1, God as Creator, is obvious in John 1:1.
1. My Redeemer Lives Another Crucial Role The allusion to Genesis 1:1, God as Creator, is obvious in John 1:1. “In the Beginning God created the heavens and the earth” (Genesis 1:1 NKJV). “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was God” (John 1:1 NKJV) Ang pahiwatig sa Genesis 1:1 na ang Diyos bilang Manlalalang, ay kitang-kita sa Juan 1:1.

14 1. My Redeemer Lives Another Crucial Role And if that weren’t enough, these words—“He was in the world, and the world was made through Him.... But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God” (John 1:10–12)—make the link between Jesus as Creator and Redeemer inseparable. It’s only because He is the Creator that He can be our Redeemer, as well.

15 Job’s Redeemer 2. The Son of Man Job 10:4, 5 NKJV “ ‘Do you have eyes of flesh? Or do you see as man sees? Are Your days like the days of a mortal man? Are your years like the days of a mighty man?’ ” 2. (Job 10:4, 5).

16 the coming of Jesus into humanity.
2. The Son of Man Make-believe Humanity? Job’s point was simple. You are God, the Sovereign of the universe, the Creator. How can you know what it is like to be a human, to suffer the things that we suffer? Job’s complaint, that God wasn’t a human and therefore couldn’t know human woe, was answered fully by the coming of Jesus into humanity. Pagkukunwaring Pagiging Tao?

17 Though never losing His divinity,
2. The Son of Man Make-believe Humanity? Though never losing His divinity, Jesus also was fully human, and in that humanity He knew what it was like to suffer, just as Job and all humans do. In fact, all through the Gospels, we see the reality of Christ’s humanity and the sufferings that He went through in our humanity. Jesus answered Job’s complaint.

18 2. The Son of Man Make-believe Humanity? “It was not a make-believe humanity that Christ took upon Himself. He took human nature and lived human nature.... He was not only made flesh, but He was made in the likeness of sinful flesh.”—EGW Comments, The SDA Bible Commentary 5:1124.

19 Job’s Redeemer 3. A Substitute Needed Luke 9:22 NKJV “ ‘The Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raise the third day.’ ” 3. ” (Lucas 9:22).

20 3. A Substitute Needed The Death of Christ Jesus didn’t come merely to give us an example. Our situation as sinners called for more than just reforming our characters as if molding us into His image is all that His work as Redeemer required. We need more than that; we need a Substitute to die the death that we deserve so that His perfect life can be credited to us as our own.

21 3. A Substitute Needed The Death of Christ Jesus had to die for us because obedience to the law, though central to the Christian life, is not what saves the fallen. “Is the law then against the promises of God? Certainly not! For if there had been a law given which could have given life, truly righteousness would have been by the law” (Gal. 3:21 NKJV).

22 3. A Substitute Needed The Death of Christ If any law could save a sinner, it would be God’s, but even that law can’t save us. Only the perfect life of our perfect Example, Jesus, could save us, and so Christ came to offer Himself as “one sacrifice for sins forever” (Heb. 10:12, NKJV).

23 Only at the cross can the book of Job be put into proper perspective.
3. A Substitute Needed The Sufferings of Christ Only at the cross can the book of Job be put into proper perspective. The griefs and sorrows that we know individually, He assumed corporately. No one can lecture God on suffering, not when He in humanity bore in Himself the full brunt of all the suffering that sin has spread. At the cross, Jesus experienced them all.

24 3. A Substitute Needed Satan Unmasked: TGC 502 “Satan...had accused God of seeking merely the exaltation of Himself in requiring submission and obedience.... He Himself...made no sacrifice. Now it was seen that for the salvation of a fallen...race, the Ruler of the universe had made the greatest sacrifice which love could make.... Christ...become obedient unto death.”

25 Job’s Redeemer Final Words “But the work of human redemption is not all that is accomplished by the cross. The love of God is manifested to the universe. ... The accusations which Satan has brought against God are refuted. The reproach which he has cast upon heaven is forever removed. Angels as well as men are drawn to the Redeemer.”—The Desire of Ages 625, 626. Huling Pananalita.
