Personalized Learning is dynamically tailoring learning experiences to students’ strengths, needs and/or interests.

5 Why Personalized Learning?
Students differ in how they learn. Personalized Learning offers students unique pathways towards common standards-based learning goals – and voice and choice in how they learn. Personalized Learning allows students to play an active role in mapping their own learning path.

Every teacher in Grades 3-5 and middle school core content areas create a personalized learning community, using PL instructional models designed to meet individual learner needs and interests.

Digital Content Whole Group Opening Check for Understanding 3 station rotation Small Group Instruction Collaborative Work Introduce or review new concepts followed by a quick check for understanding. Student Reflection or Check for Understanding Examples: Stop Light, Thumbs up/middle/down, Emojis, Online Poll or Exit Ticket

10 Station Rotation with Targeted Pull-Out Instructional Model
Digital Content Whole Group Opening Independent Work Collaborative Work Check for Understanding 3 station rotation Introduce or review new concepts followed by a quick check for understanding. Student Reflection or Check for Understanding Examples: Stop Light, Thumbs up/middle/down, Emojis, Online Poll or Exit Ticket Based off Slide 8, but allows teacher to facilitate and pull students as needed. More flexible. Daily model- Whole Group minutes may vary based on pre-assessment data. Do you need 20 minute whole group lesson for new content? Do most of the students have an understanding? 13 Training Each school has a Personalized Learning Team comprised of the Principal, TRT and 3-4 teachers leaders who guide the work of the school. These PL school teams received professional development during the spring and summer of , where they also had time to create their school’s vision for PL and the professional learning that their colleagues would receive. Ongoing support throughout the year, including PL classroom walkthroughs, will be provided to these schools.

14 Next Steps Gather data on the use of digital tools and adaptive digital content. Continue to support pilot schools in implementing and strengthening their PL instructional models. Pilot PL in 12 additional classrooms at the middle and high school level. Learn from pilot schools and plan for rollout in additional schools.
