6 Why Linked Learning Academies?
A high school diploma is no longer enough for our current students to be competitive in the global marketplace. Today, a child who graduates from school in a Linked Learning Academy will have: a mastery of 21st Century Skills a broad work-based knowledge ability to compete in the global marketplace and numerous paths of opportunity available to lead a successful life

7 A Linked Learning Academy is:
An approach that seeks to prepare students for both college & career by connecting learning in the classroom with real world applications in the workplace. As opposed to the Vocational Education programs of the past, Linked Learning requires college prep academic core classes along with Career Technical Education and work based learning that meets industry standards.

8 A Linked Learning Academy is:
Cross-curricular collaboration for the creation of performance tasks (projects) at each level for 9, 10, 11 and 12. Please refer to the Student Performance Outcomes listed by grade level

9 Currently: At Chino High School, we are implementing the following Academies: Law, Justice and Public Service Culinary and Hospitality

Presentations by career professionals Career exploration/field trips Job shadowing Apprenticeships

14 4. Support Services Developing consistent, systematic procedures to ensure each student is guaranteed additional time and support when needed. We do that through the following: Cal Poly Educational Talent Search Tutoring after school in core academic classes Providing intervention for students with D’s and F’s

in Academy classes

18 Students are motivated by working in groups to
participate in performance assessment tasks And encouraged through ever-increasing writing skills that will give them the edge in new end-of-course assessments

Core strategies to produce students that match the descriptions in the Graduate Profile
