2. King The most important piece in the game.
Moves one space in any direction.
Weakest piece in the entire time.
The object is to trap the opponent's king so that he may not escape.

3. Queen Most powerful piece in chess.
Able to move any number of squares vertically, horizontally, and diagonally.

4. Rook Moves any number of spaces horizontally or vertically.
Participates in castling.

5. Bishop Unlimited restrictions on distance.
Only able to move diagonally.

6. Knight Most unusual moves of all the chess pieces.
Can move two spaces up then over one. Up one than over two and vice versa.

7. Pawn Most numerous piece of the game. May not move backwards.
First pawn move has the option to move forward two spaces. After that they may only move one space each.
To capture an opponent, the pawn must strike diagonally by one space.
