3 Our Mission Provide an education that develops both the spiritual and the academic aspects of each individual.  Celebrate through prayer, liturgy and worship allowing pupils and staff to develop and grow in their love of God.  To foster Christian values in an environment which encourages the understanding of the needs of everyone.  To be witnesses of Christ’s values to the wider world. Continue to develop close relationships between home, school and parish.

6 Communication is vital
If you have a concern, worry, a question about your child, the school, a member of staff it is important that you raise this with school. School can only resolve problems if they are aware of them. Facebook is not the place to air concerns. We will listen to your ideas. Working together we are striving for excellence. We are in this together! 7 Ethical informed citizens of Wales and the World
To develop both the spiritual and academic. To develop resilient, resourceful, reflective, reciprocal learners. For this to happen children need to be in school. Good attendance is vital Embedding Four Key Purposes Ambitious, capable learners, ready for learning throughout their lives Enterprising, creative contributors, ready to play a full part in life and work Ethical informed citizens of Wales and the World Healthy confident individuals ready to lead fulfilling lives as valued members of society

8 Let’s look a little closer…..
1 school year at 90% attendance is equivalent to 4 whole weeks of lessons MISSED!!! 38 school weeks Sept July ? Absent for 4 weeks

9 Percentage Attendance – the amount of school you would miss by the end of Yr6:
90% attendance = 20 weeks= 1 ½ TERMS MISSED 80% attendance = 40 weeks = 1YEAR MISSED 70% attendance = 60 weeks= 1 ½ YEARS MISSED 60% attendance = 80 weeks= 2 YEARS MISSED 50% attendance = 100 weeks= 2 ½ YEARS MISSED

10 What impact might this have on Simon’s life……?
Research suggests that 17 missed school days a year equals 1 GCSE grade DROP in achievement. The greater the attendance the greater the achievement.

11 Our challenge… How can we best work together to help our children become the very best that they can be?

12 Team work- reciprocity Working together Nigerian proverb It takes a whole village to raise a child. It is a communal responsibility. We are what we eat- Healthy lunchbox, water in school. Exercise, sports, team games- get the balance right! Tooth brushing/dummies Homework Independent Learners, life skills: labels help!/emptying own bag/toileting/good manners

13 Developing a love of reading
CAPER Children And Parents Enjoying Reading Weekly opportunity to take a reading book home Children are allowed to choose Developing a love of reading- read a book Words are all around us, word rich- use everyday opportunities eg. I spy/ visit to Morrisons to develop a sense of wonder/ inquisitiveness Read daily bedtime stories- early years so very important Join our local library Reading Records: We are in it together! Important for books to be sent back into school and that parent has to made a comment on progress made
