The MIS allows you to Bookmark a particular page or the results from search you executed. This allows the users to easily return to their previous location without having to re-navigate the site. By using the bookmark feature you are just a click away from your information – say the SRC page. Speaking of the SRC page, there are a number of internal MIS resources as well as links to external sites. For example, the MIS provides information specific to your state (About your state) as well as allowing you to compare data from your state against other states using the Ad hoc query.

6 7/30/2018 Programs Ken From the About RSA menu, click on programs to view a list of RSA programs grouped by topic area. For this presentation we’re going to look at the

7 7/30/2018 Programs Ken On each Program

8 7/30/2018 Programs Ken

9 7/30/2018 Programs Ken On this particular program, we’ve pulled in a special page for VR State Directors. It was really designed as an “Orientation” page for new directors – as such it provides a lot of good links that give a really useful overview. While this was originally designed to new VR State Directors, I have a hunch that many of you will find this a useful overview. We’ve provided links to the page on a number of screens – including the home page and the SRC Information page as well as on the BASIC VOC REHAB program page..

10 7/30/2018 Policy Jack As you know, the RSA develops and administers many areas of policy and legislation that directly affect individuals with disabilities and their families. The Legislation and Policy page delivers the information through a variety of options and groupings and is contained on a single page.

11 Policy 7/30/2018 Jack Legislation and Policy is grouped by program.
For example, the VR program page will list the Legislation, Regulations, and Guidance (Policy Directives (PDs), Technical Assistance Circulars (TACs) or Information Memoranda (IM)) with a link to each document. . When you go to each of those pages, a detailed list (with hyperlinks) appears.

12 7/30/2018 Policy Jack The Legislation page, displays related legislation and the links to that source. Resources include: The Rehabilitation Act of 1973 Assistive Technology Act of 2004 The Randolph-Sheppard Act The Helen Keller National Center Act of 1984

13 7/30/2018 Policy Jack The PD’s and TAC’s are displayed/grouped by year. Once a year is selected, the panel slides open to display each of the PD’s for a given year and can be viewed either in Word or PDF format.

14 People and Offices 7/30/2018 Jack
The People and Offices page is divided into three (3) sections: Contact RSA Other Useful Contacts RSA Offices Contact RSA – provides contact information (phone, , address) and is sorted by state, by program or a general list containing all RSA staff.

15 People and Offices 7/30/2018 Jack
Contact RSA allows the user to locate people/offices/contact information and is divided by group. State Liaisons are alphabetically listed by state and include the contact name, and phone number.

16 People and Offices 7/30/2018 Jack
Other Useful Contacts are listed by state (alphabetical order) and include contact information for: State Vocational Rehabilitation Agency and Centers for Independent Living . Information for each state and related awards.

The About your state section provides data that is displayed by utilizing the following tabs: Fiscal Snapshot Data Snapshot Grantees VR Grant Award Calculator VR Annual Review Report VR State Plan VR and CIL Contacts More RSA Programs

19 About Your State 7/30/2018 Jack
The Fiscal Snapshot is based on information provided by the states to the RSA. It provides the user with funding information that is sorted by Year and grouped by program. The programs include: Basic Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) Supported Employment (SE) Independent Living (IL) Independent Living Services for Older Individuals Who Are Blind (OIB) Client Assistance Program (CAP) Protection and Advocacy of Individual Rights (PAIR) Protection and Advocacy for Assistive Technology (PAAT) State Grants for Assistive Technology (SGAT) Other RSA Programs

20 About Your State 7/30/2018 Jack
The data snapshot shows information about the agency which receives the Basic VR grant from RSA. It includes closure type over a span of several years. Information such as: Closed with employment Closed without employment Closed from order of selection Closed from trial work/extended evaluation Closed as applicant Total closed Percent accepted for services who received no services The second chart and table represents a list of the grantees the total amount of funding received from RSA in 2012.

21 About Your State 7/30/2018 Jack
The Annual Review Report presents information about the performance of the Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services (ADRS) beginning on October 1, 2010 and ending on September 30, 2011 (FY 2011). It is based on data submitted to RSA by ADRS as of January 28, 2013. The Annual Review Report contains the following information: State goals and priorities Individuals in the VR agency Outcomes Agency staffing patterns Financial data Compliance with standards and indicators State policies and procedures/guidance materials Activities conducted by the SRC Status of appeals

22 About Your State 7/30/2018 Jack
In some states, there are two agencies. This screen shows only the GENERAL agency (the bigger of the two) in those states. You should probably also take a look at the BLIND agency. See the “more RSA Programs” tab for links to both state plans

23 About Your State 7/30/2018 Jack
Every state has a State Vocational Rehabilitation Agency that is designed to help individuals with disabilities meet their employment goals. Vocational rehabilitation agencies assist individuals with disabilities to prepare for, obtain, maintain, or regain employment. The following list includes links to websites and other contact information for vocational rehabilitation (VR) agencies for the most recent Federal fiscal year.

24 About Your State 7/30/2018 Jack
More RSA Programs - RSA administers several grant programs. Many of these programs are supported by the RSA Management Information System (MIS), which allows RSA grantees to report on the progress being made during their grant. The following grant programs are supported by the MIS.

26 7/30/2018 Ad Hoc Query Ken There are two required steps to create an Ad Hoc Query. In Step 1, define the criteria to limit the data returned. Keep in mind, you do not need to fill in every item. In fact, it's better if you don't. Leave items blank if you want to return all values for that item. A common mistake is to define too many criteria which ends up excluding too much data. We suggest you keep the criteria broad (for example, choose FISCAL YEAR or STATE) then use tools in Excel to further refine your data. In Step 2, choose the groups of data you would like to see. For some types of data, one or more of the groups defaults to selected. For other, no group is selected by default. You must choose at least one group, but you may choose multiple groups. After setting your selections in Step 1 and Step 2, you are ready to run your ad hoc query. Click the RUN QUERY or press ALT-R. However if you wish, you may specify addition criteria (in Step 3) or the sort order (in Step 4). However, we recommend you perform these functions in Excel. When you run your Ad Hoc Query, you will have three options to deliver the results. Format for printing redisplays the results on a screen suitable for printing, though you may need to adjust your printer's settings for optimal results. Save to Word and Save to Excel create a document or spreadsheet (respectively) and open the file on your workstation. You will need to save it to your local hard drive if you want to retain a copy or if you wish to format it further. If you need additional help with this feature, please send an to

30 7/30/2018 Quick Tables Jack Quick Tables lets you create a custom report from RSA data.  The reports are pre-designed and may include graphs, though you have the capability to add a graph even if it isn't included by default. Here's how to use Quick Tables. Select Quick tables from the Main Menu. Choose the type of table (or tables) you would like to create from the list. You may run the following types of reports against the tables you have chosen: * National totals, for several fiscal years * National averages, by fiscal year * Totals and Averages by type of grantee, for the latest fiscal year * Data for one grantee, for several fiscal years * Data for one grantee compared to its peers, for the latest fiscal year
