4. Doing the bowel test
The tests should be done over 10 days but no longer

5. How do I do the bowel test ?
When you think you need a poo
Take the test kit, pen and the instructions into the bathroom

Write the date on the card

You must catch your poo before it goes in the toilet
Do not wee at the same time
You can catch your poo on toilet paper like this

8. Doing you bowel test Other ideas for catching your poo are:
use a small, clean plastic bag
use a clean container
Whatever you use make sure you can throw it in the bin afterwards

When you have collected your poo open the first flap on the card
You will see two small windows

Place the stick in the poo

You only need a little bit of poo

Spread the poo thinly on the first window

Take a small bit from a different part of the poo
Remember you don’t need a lot!
Put it on the second window

Close the flap and tuck it under the coloured tab

Don’t leave the kit on the window sill
Don’t put it in the fridge
Keep the kit away from children and animals

The next time you go for a poo you need to do the test again

Write the date on the card too

This time you will lift up the 3rd flap and put your poo on the windows the same as before

25. Doing the bowel test Check that you have written on the kit
your name
date of birth
dates you did the tests
Close the flaps
Put the kit in the envelope

26. Doing the bowel test You are ready to send the kit in the post
You do NOT need a stamp, it’s FREE!

27. What happens to my bowel test ?
Your test kit goes to the laboratory to be tested
You will get your results in the post in about 2 weeks time
