4 At least 2 threads should be all the way through the nut.
Fastener Facts The first 1-2 "Leading Threads" are smaller in diameter than all other threads. Page 3 INCORRECT ASSEMBLY Minimum thread depth should be ≥ the diameter of the fastener being installed. CORRECT ASSEMBLY At least 2 threads should be all the way through the nut.

5 Fastener Facts Page 4 All assembled fasteners are either in the "Tension" or "Shear" load condition. Bolts Too Short

9 Fastener Facts Page 8 Flat Washers are used to transfer or spread out the load from the fastener. On one side of a flat washer there are rounded edge around the inside diameter and well as the outside diameter. On the opposite side the inside and outside diameters have sharp edges. When assembling the flat washer, position the radius or rounded edges under the head of the bolt, as shown below. Radius Side Bolt Elements Washer Rounded Edges Washer Rounded Edges Opposite Side

10 Fastener Facts Page 9 SAE J429 Maximum Angularity Grade 5 and 8 Bolts
The head of the bolt and the flat washer must always be flat with the surface of the part being assembled. SAE J429 Maximum Angularity Grade 5 and 8 Bolts ¼” – ¾” 6° Over ¾” 4°

11 Fastener Facts Torque Sequence “Star Pattern” Page 10

12 Fastener Facts Page 11 When applying torque to a bolted assembly, should the torque be applied to the head of the bolt or the nut? Torsion is the twisting action of an object due to the applied torque.
