What happens when you bring together 300 STEM college students and teams sponsor teams for two days of intense, interactive, competitions, and a lot of really cool prizes and scholarships? 4 Why do students participate?

6 Elements of the College Bowl
Five Rounds of Competitions One competition on Thursday evening and four on Friday Resume writing is a traditional competition on Thursday Other competitions are fast-paced, requiring quick thinking, creativity, teamwork and excellent coaching New competitions every year Team Formation on Thursday evening Based on students marketing their talent to sponsors and on using round-robin draft process (Select-o-Rama) Peer Judges (from other teams) score each round of competition HENAAC College Bowl is Trademark of Great Minds in STEM and is Copyright Protected by MarKon, LLP

7 Choosing your College Bowl coaches and judge
Each sponsor identifies three representatives: one coach, one assistant coach and one judge Choose coaches and judge who are energetic and enjoy working with students Select individuals who have at least 5 years of professional experience Ensure that they are able to make time commitment – beginning from Thursday 3:00 pm to Friday 5:00 pm + Saturday evening dinner HENAAC College Bowl is Trademark of Great Minds in STEM and is Copyright Protected by MarKon, LLP

8 Key Guidelines for College Bowl
Coach, assist coach and judge are only ones to work with students on the draft process and resume competition (Thursday evening) No other support members allowed during the draft near the station Support cheering team allowed only if room is available (separate from draft set up) Only the coach and assistant coach will work with students during Competitions # 2 – 5 (Friday all day) No flags or banners please HENAAC College Bowl is Trademark of Great Minds in STEM and is Copyright Protected by MarKon, LLP

9 Additional Rules for College Bowl
For Resume competition on Thursday evening, students, coach, assist coach and judge are to work in the ballroom or surrounding foyer area No special meeting rooms can be reserved for CB Team Company headquarters cannot be used for CB Team No additional support staff allowed to work with students, to set up equipment or to staff team. For Friday competitions, only coach and assist coach allowed to work with students Judges are not permitted to help team during competition preparation time for “Deal or No Deal Competition” HENAAC College Bowl is Trademark of Great Minds in STEM and is Copyright Protected by MarKon, LLP

10 Suggested Best Practices
Encouraged to bring sponsor items to give out during draft process Provide logo shirts, caps or other items to help identify team members 24 shirts – one for each day for coaches, judges, and team Bring at least two laptops to use for Thursday’s resume competition Provide items to keep team motivated on Friday – within reason Sponsors should plan on attending the Student Leadership Dinner on Saturday afternoon HENAAC College Bowl is Trademark of HENAAC and is Copyright Protected by MarKon, LLP

11 Students compete for scholarships
1st Place Team: $ 500 each 2nd Place Team: $ 300 each 3rd Place Team: $ 200 each Students receive special recognition Numerous certificates presented for various performance categories Team Sponsors Compete for the College Bowl Trophy which they take back to their office and bragging rights for a year! 12 The David Burris Tribute Award
Award in memory of former College Bowl CIA coach Dave Burris Participant in first College Bowl Great focus on students and their success Annual recognition of a coach who shines as “best mentor” to the students Selection based on voting by coaches, judges, assistant coaches Voting to be conducted during fourth competition of College Bowl Recipient announced at the Student Leadership Dinner on Saturday HENAAC College Bowl is Trademark of Great Minds in STEM and is Copyright Protected by MarKon, LLP
