5 Project Outcome & Result Area
Outcome: Increased resilience of 298,500 direct and 604,300 indirect beneficiaries in 104 GVHs to climate change vulnerability. One Output: Increased and diversified crop and livestock production, sustainable and adaptive agriculture technologies and improved dietary diversification: ....households using efficient stoves

6 Discover Stove Intervention
Target: 50,000 households using enertgy efficient stoves. Two Components: Stove Production and Marketing; and Sustainable use of carbon credit funding Promoting the Chitetedzo Mbaula Stove

7 Why Chitetedzo Mbaula Stove.
CU experience with the stove in Balaka Cost to the consumer is approximately US$2 whereas imported stoves would cost at least US$20 Designed & developed in Malawi over the last years- the stove has evolved to meet local preferences

8 Why Chitetedso Mbaula Stove
It is a wood-fired portable clay stove that is made at village level. 93% HHs use firewood main source of fuel for cooking Each household using a chitetzo mbaula saves approximately one tonne of wood and, given the levels of renewability of wood consumption in Malawi, this equates to more than 1.5 tonnes per household per year in year one

9 Discover Stove Activities
Building capacity of community groups in production & marketing of Chitetedzo Mbaula Stove Developing community owned and managed schemes to utilize carbon credit flows to strengthen community adaptation capacity

10 STOVE CAMP OUTCOME Build Capacity of Staff in stove production
Develop a roll out plan for each partner district for the stove activities Policy level: Government and Donors to support the scale up of energy efficient stove production, marketing and carbon financing.
