2. CAMDR President Report October 2016-2017
On behalf of the Canadian Association for Medical Device Reprocessing (CAMDR-ACRDM), I want to bring greetings to each of you. CAMDR is 5 years old this year! Your executive and Board of Directors has been busy over the past year networking with your Provincial Advisors (PA’s) and other partner associations. As you will read through other reports, we are well on our way planning our Third Biennial Conference in Halifax, Nova Scotia October 11-14th, 2018 and ensuring you have access to further your education through our Members Only Section on our website.
Regular teleconferences have been held with your Provincial Advisors to ensure inclusion in our association as we move forward. If you are unsure who your PA is, Please check our CAMDR website to find out who your advisor is & reach out to them for assistance with MDR issues.
CAMDR is honoured to have met with and partnered with the following professional associations; Infection Prevention & Control-Canada (IPAC-Canada), Medical Device Reprocessing Association of Ontario (MDRAO), Medical Device Reprocessing Association of Nova Scotia (MDRANS), Alberta Association Medical Device Reprocessing Technicians (AAMDRT), Association Québécois En Retraitement Des Dispositifs Médicaux (AQRDM), Canadian Foot Care Nurses(CAFCN), Canadian Dental Assistants’ Association, the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materiel Management (IAHCSMM) (CDAA). I have also met with other MDR Provincial Networks across Canada via teleconference to promote CAMDR.
We are also gracious that so many of our Vendor Community has believed in and supported CAMDR as we are the only Canadian Association representing Medical Device Technicians.
So when you ask what is CAMDR doing for me? ‘Get Involved’ and encourage your colleagues to join CAMDR because we need you on board as we navigate through Medical Device Reprocessing and as we move into the future, lobbying for staff and patient safety and to provide education to our members.

Secretary and Membership Report We left CAMDR 2016 in Toronto, only to begin another busy year of meetings, membership discussions and CAMDR 2018 planning. We are very excited to be holding CAMDR 2018 in Halifax and hope you will be able to join us. We have solidified out keynote speakers for CAMDR 2018 and will continue to finalize the event schedule and itinerary. This should be released early 2018 so stay tuned! Membership recruitment remains a high priority with CAMDR and as memberships were set to expire, we worked to develop new strategies to increase our membership. New this year, you can join or renew your membership for 1 year at $50.00 or 2 years or $ Membership with CAMDR provides you with many benefits: * New and improved website and a new education section (Members only section to come) * Quarterly newsletter * Annual general meetings * Biennial conferences across Canada * Opportunity to network with colleagues and like-minded people across Canada We ask that you encourage your colleagues and friends to become part of our national MDR association. 5. CAMDR Conference Director Report Planning for the 2018 CAMDR Conference is well underway! Please mark you calendars for October 11-14th We hope to see you all in beautiful Halifax, Nova Scotia. For a quick update on the planning process;  conference speakers & topics are 90-95% complete - awaiting confirmation from a few speakers. We have secured very exciting Keynote speakers in Meg Soper and Bill Carr who we are sure will be both entertaining and educational. We will also have contributions from leaders in Canadian and International MDR community. We have finalized social events which will be entertaining and hope to highlight the unique talent and culture that Halifax has to offer! Stay Tuned. Corporate Sponsorship is imperative to the success of the biennial conferences and we are grateful for the confirmed support we have already finalized. With the hard work of Vendor Director Albert Csapo we hope to continue to foster relationships and grow the exhibit numbers and educational opportunities to enrich the experience for CAMDR members. CAMDR conference 2020 is also being planned and we are eager to announce the site for the 2020 conference as we look to the bright future of CAMDR! 6. CAMDR Education Report This has been a year of planning to get our website so that there is a members’ only section. This has been accomplished. For the 2018 membership year, we hope that members will be able to log onto the website and go to the members only section. On this section of the CAMDR site, you will be able to access this section as a member using your membership number. We are working with our Platinum conference sponsors and have offered them the opportunity of providing 10 Modules with Q&A at the end each year. You will get a certificate at the end for each 1-hour session of credit for education. We are hoping to get 5-6 Platinum sponsors so 50 education hours will be available each year. We hope to have all the particulars ready to launch in January 2018 so this will give more value to your membership. I have worked with the executive over this last year planning the speakers for the conference and topics for you to enjoy.
