My Strengths and How These Inform my Leadership Practice
Jaynell Hannah Atmosfera

Strengths: Belief Connectedness Relator Responsibility Strategic

Belief People especially talented in the Belief theme have certain core values that are unchanging. Out of these values emerges a defined purpose for their life. My core values are taken from the Word of God and have created my solid foundation rooted in the Christian faith What I believe drives everything I do. The leadership I go by is Authentic and Servant Leadership. I am real, genuine and say things as it is. I do not sugar coat and I do what is right according to the Word of God. I serve others because Jesus called us to love others and serve them. I prioritize people in everything

Connectedness People especially talented in the Connectedness theme have faith in the links between all things. They believe there are few coincidences and that almost every event has a reason. I believe that all things are connected. There really are no coincidences. I believe God and His spirit is moving throughout the events in my life and through the life of others. I believe that every action has an effect whether it is positive or negative, something occurs because of what we choose to do.

All things are connected:
In my leadership journey, in high school I was Freshman class president for the class of I’ve planned fun events on the weekends for us freshmen to enjoy, connect and socialize. I tried running again sophomore year but lost, I tried again junior year, and I lost again. Most of the students in my class took class elections as a joke, but when it came to senior year, the President plans the reunions (4 and 10 year), and creates more events for seniors.. Now my peers were begging me to run for president because they knew only I could do the job. I was very discouraged at this point because of the 2 prior years of losing, but I felt moved in my spirit to try again. I campaigned this time not for myself but for others and ended up winning. Our senior year as a class was one of the best in a long time. I’ve learned that through this, all things are connected, and everything happens for a reason. I also learned that at times where I feel discouraged my friends who are followers are always there to encourage me, lift me up, and support me.

Relator People especially talented in the Relator theme enjoy close relationships with others. They find deep satisfaction in working hard with friends to achieve a goal. I am outgoing and have no problem making new friends. As a result I do have many friends, that I know on a surface level, so I really do enjoy having close relationships with others. A deeper relationship is something I treasure. And in these relationships, I use servant leadership to help the other person be all that God has called them to be, and to reach their full potential.

Responsibility People especially talented in the Responsibility them take psychological ownership of what they say they will do. They are committed to stable values such as honesty and loyalty. I believe that I am fully responsible for myself, everything I say, and all that I do. I own up to my choices and I stand by my decisions. Just as mentioned before, I have core values that create a foundation for all that I do. I am (brutally) honest, I have no shame in saying what needs to be said even if it is contrary to the status quo. I stand by my family, always, and some of my close friends. For them there is nothing they could do for me to ever love and support them any less.

Strategic People especially talented in the Strategic theme create alternative ways to proceed. Face with any given scenario they can quickly spot the relevant patterns and issues. I instantly get irritated when stuck in a stagnant position. So naturally, I quickly use creativity to do something so I can keep moving forward. Yes it is important to take time to be still, but I can easily call out problems I see and I have inner motivation to deal with the problem so I can keep going.
