Students tab on web site provides your first port of call (online) for information and advice Important sections include: Academic Advice ~ see link to the Academic Regulations & Procedures 2016/17, including student guide to changes Study Support page for details of study support available in the faculty and for all UWE students See module & programme sites + the FET tab on Blackboard for course-specific information

See module & programme sites + the FET tab on Blackboard for course-specific information Check the modules you are doing match with the programme schedule at level 3 (or level M) Check that the total number of credits you are doing at level 3 is 120, (and total credits over 3 years is 360)

7 Academic calendar for 2016/17
Teaching block 1 (Autumn) is 12 weeks, as usual Winter vacation is 3 weeks this year Teaching block 2 is also 12 weeks Easter vacation is 2 weeks The resit period is 10th-21st July 2017 The resit coursework submission deadline will be Tuesday 11th July (this needs confirmation) See programme handbooks and Term Dates for more details

8 Regulation Changes The Current Academic Regulations and Procedures are available online on the Students tab, Academic Advice section Regulations and Procedures A Student and staff guide – key changes to academic regulations and procedures 2016/17 is available as a pdf on this webpage

9 Further Information Information about Extenuating Circumstances and the Five Working Day Extension for coursework are available online on the Students tab, Academic Advice section, under Assessments. For further advice and guidance you can make an appointment with a Student Support Adviser either by visiting one of the Information Points or by telephoning

10 HEAR Higher Education Achievement Report
An electronic document to record your learning and achievement Will be viewed by employers with your permission As well as details on your qualification includes certain extracurricular achievements ie sports awards, enterprise activities, volunteering etc

Online Support: Register with InfoHub and set your preferences One stop shop for resources, events, e-guidance and booking appointments Regularly check your Departmental workgroup page for tailored information Look at your Departmental Work Group page example given next slide for Architecture and Built Environment

Face-to-face: Careers Drop-in in Q Block Project Room 14:00 – every Tues and Weds Careers Drop-in daily in E-Zone (next to the Library) Bookable one-to-one appointments (through InfoHub) Volunteering Fair, 28th Sept, 11-3pm ECC Meet the Employers Fair, 12th Oct, 11-3pm ECC Careers workshops in Q block- keep a lookout on the noticeboards by the Project Room for details

14 Project, Dissertations
Engineering students: - Project ML Wendy Fowles-Sweet and EDM Librarian Alastair Sleat Sort out a project and project supervisor and register project with module leader. Check dates for: Interim report due (usually mid term 1) Final report date due (usually just before or just after Easter break) Engineering students note: project supervisor is also your personal tutor

Be prepared to change gear and take even more responsibility for your own learning and development in Year 3 Ask for help or advice if you can’t find what you’re looking for or you’re not sure what to do Tell us what you think… … and have an enjoyable and successful year!
