5 Hot Topics Excellence Initiative Bavarian School of Public Policy 150 years celebration (2018) Virtually all master programs in English (2020) The Excellence Initiative aims to promote top-level research and to improve the quality of German universities and research institutions in general, thus making Germany a more attractive research location, making it more internationally competitive and focussing attention on the outstanding achievements of Germany universities and the German scientific community. TUM was one of the first universities in Germany to be named a University of Excellence. Integrating future technologies into the political dialogue and decision-making: The Hochschule für Politik München (HfP) –  Bavarian School of Public Policy focuses its research and teaching on the interaction between politics, society, the economy and technology. Using an internationally unique model, it addresses the growing need for dialog between policy-makers and society, which is driven by the complexity of today’s science and technology challenges. To shape this new interfacing profile, TUM is acting as its host university since December 1, 2014.
