3 Greeting the customer Each customer needs to be greeted by an employee within 3 seconds of coming in the door. Greet the customers with a smile on your face and let the customer feel welcome! Greet them by saying: “How are you tonight?” or “Hi !” or a nice positive greeting

4 Greeting the customer Avoid phrases like: Can I help you?
What can I get for you? Can I take your order? That’s why they are here. Just give them a warm welcome.

Ask “Will this be to stay?”

6 Ask “Will this be to stay?”
At the beginning of the order is when we need to enter what the customer is going to do. Ask “will this be to stay?” If it is not to stay then select “To Go” on the computer. If it is to stay then select “To Stay” on the computer.

8 Key in the order correctly
Entering the order in correctly is extremely important to making sure the customer gets exactly what they want. Use the buttons, modifiers, and instructions if needed to make sure it is done correctly.

10 Repeating the order back
Repeating each order back to the customer will eliminate 90% of all mistakes. Read the order back exactly as it appears on the screen so you can make sure that it is how the customer wants it. This also gives customers a reminder of what they have ordered.

12 Suggest an additional item
Suggestive selling or up selling is something you need to do on each order. We want to make sure that each customer gets what they want.

When asking for their money end your sentence with the word “please”. For example, “Your total is $8.35, please.”

Stating out loud to the customer helps you remember what amount of money the customer gave you, and helps them know what they gave you. They may have thought they gave you a $20 and it was only a $10. For example if the customer gave you a $10 dollar bill you would say: “Out of $10”

Count the change back to the customer by handing the customer the coins first, then counting the bills into your own hand so the customers can see. Count up from their total to the amount they gave you.

20 Tell them their number Each order is assigned a number. This is how we will make sure that we get the correct order to the right customer. Point their number out on their receipt. You can circle it if you would like to help them notice.

Thank the customer! We are not doing them a favor, they are doing us one, and are paying 100% of our paycheck. We will thank the customer many times during their visit. Tell the customer that we will bring their order out to them. This helps avoid congestion at the counter.

23 Establishing a routine will help you make sure that you accomplish everything you need to in your order taking. Please pay close attention to each step as you continue to be trained.
