12 Tugak is one of more than 1000 Nunavummiut who have taken prospecting courses since the Government of Nunavut first started offering them in 2001… But it’s not easy to be a prospector in Nunavut anymore, says Tugak, over the phone in Arviat… “Our people, we don’t have a lot of jobs in the north…It’s something a lot of people should be doing if you have no job. It may be rewarding for some people.”
