2. The Situation
A look at Leprosy 1. Leprosy is an infectious disease that causes severe, disfiguring skin sores and nerve damage in the arms and legs. 2. Leprosy primarily affects the skin and the nerves outside the brain and spinal cord, called the peripheral nerves. It may also strike the eyes and the thin tissue lining the inside of the nose.

A look at Leprosy The main symptom of leprosy is disfiguring skin sores, lumps, or bumps that do not go away after several weeks or months. The skin sores are pale-colored. Nerve damage can lead to: Loss of feeling in the arms and legs Muscle weakness

The overwhelming desire for healing Now it happened as He went to Jerusalem that He passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee. 12 Then as He entered a certain village, there met Him ten men who were lepers, who stood afar off. 13 And they lifted up their voices and said, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!” Luke 17:11-13

Christ heals the agonizing men So when He saw them, He said to them, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.” And so it was that as they went, they were cleansed. Luke 17:14

One soul showed thankfulness And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, returned, and with a loud voice glorified God, 16 and fell down on his face at His feet, giving Him thanks. And he was a Samaritan. Luke 17:15-16

Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness, And for His wonderful works to the children of men! Psalms 107:8

Does the Christian have a reason, any reason, to thank God with the same enthusiasm as the Samaritan?
And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, returned, and with a loud voice glorified God, 16 and fell down on his face at His feet, giving Him thanks. And he was a Samaritan.
