1 QA: Siemens Sentinelle

2 Running QA To complete the install procedure, perform a QA scan to ensure all coils are working to specification. QA scans must be performed for the following coil configurations: 8 Channel or 16 Channel bilateral 4 Channel or 10 Channel bilateral interventional 2 Channel unilateral interventional In all cases, perform the QA scans using the 2000mL bottle phantoms provided by Siemens and the Sentinelle red foam phantom holders (part number ).

3 There are two methods of performing QA scans:
The Customer QA - which requires no service key. Coil Quality Assurance - which requires a service key. Coil and Phantom Setup The following table describes the coils and positioning to use for each QA scan: Configuration Coils Coil Position 8 Channel bilateral Lateral Array Right Lateral Array Left Medial Array Ensure the Immobilization Frames are at their lowest vertical position, touching the MR table. 16 Channel bilateral 4 Channel bilateral interventional Single Loop Right Single Loop Left The Immobilization Frames should be in their lowest vertical position and the Single Loop coils should be in their highest vertical position in the Frames. 10 Channel bilateral interventional 2 Channel unilateral interventional (8 Channel systems) Medial Plug 2 Channel unilateral interventional (16 Channel systems)

4 The following figures and instructions show and describe coil and phantom setup for QA scanning. Note that in pictures the Left Lateral Array, slider and compression frame have been removed for clarity. Phantom Position on Avanto/Trio Phantom Position on Espree/Verio

5 Customer QA scan Step 1: Options >Service > Customer QA
Advance patient support so phantoms are under the alignment light emitter. Press the alignment light button and position patient support using the ‘in/up’ and ‘down/out’ buttons so coils and phantoms are centered. Press the landmark button and patient support will advance to scan (keep clear). Customer QA scan Step 1: Options >Service > Customer QA

6 Select the coil configuration you want to run a QC on and click go
Select the coil configuration you want to run a QC on and click go. (at the bottom) Note: Listen if the scan is actually running by adjusting the volume on the communication device. The count down time does not work on all systems. The Customer QA will only provide pass/fail notification. To see detail report use service key and password or run QA in Service.

7 To run the Siemens automated QA with the Siemens service key:
Step 1: Select Options → Service→ Local Service Step 2: Enter the Siemens Service Key and Password

8 Step 3: select Quality Assurance

9 To review Report of the QA
Step 5: When the QA scan is complete, click Reports in the top right corner of the Quality Assurance dialog. Step 6: click Session History and select most recent scan (the first hyperlink) and the report opens in a new window. Review the report to ensure all coil elements are within specification.
