Private Clubs are places where members gather for social, recreational, professional, or fraternal reasons.

Out of 14,000 private clubs in America, 6,000 of them are country clubs.

Generally, country clubs include golf courses, a clubhouse, locker rooms, bars and restaurants and some with banquet facilities.

There is an initiation fee - some as much as $250,000 - for many country clubs. This is just to become a member.

Private clubs may also charge member monthly dues regardless of member usage.

Other types of private clubs include city clubs, professional clubs, athletic clubs, dining clubs, military clubs, yacht clubs, fraternal clubs and proprietary clubs.

Clubs are much like hotels in that a general manager is responsible for planning, forecasting, human resources, F&B operations and facilities.

However, general managers in clubs report to (and is employed by) a Board of Directors, made up of members.

Golf clubs employ a golf pro who is responsible for organizing tournaments, fundraisers on the golf course, and employing golf caddies.
