SCALE: Local to Global Some things work differently, and have different effects at different scales. Globalization of Economy: At the global scale, we are increasingly interconnected and interdependent. At the local scale, this has lead to increasing specialization – places focus on their unique assets (if they have any). Globalization of Culture: At the global scale, we are becoming more culturally uniform – fast food, hotels, cars, cell phones, are pretty much the same over much of the world. At the local scale, some groups are fighting to retain their local culture – sometimes violently.
