1 The key themes of geography Place Space Scale Interdependence Changing physical and human processes Cultural understanding and diversity

2 The key themes of geography Place  The way we think about places varies from person to person  We need to think about real places, finding out where they are, what they are like and how they might change Space We need to understand how people and the natural world interact, and how different groups of people interact over different distances We need to think about how people are connected by who they are, their work, politics and the environment Scale We need to think about places and people locally, nationally, regionally and globally Sometimes the world can be very small!!! Interdependence What we do in one place can have an impact on people somewhere else – this can good and bad! Physical and human processes The natural world is changing all the time The way people behave is also ever-changing Environmental interaction and sustainable development The way we behave towards the planet will influence how comfortable future generations live Cultural understanding and diversity We celebrate our difference by asking: Who am I? Where do I come from? Who is my family? Who are the people around me? Where do they come from? What is our story?
