1 Creating the Final VEX Robot
Lesson 06

2 OBJECTIVES FOR TODAY By the end of this lesson you will be able to:
Construct your final robot prototype using the components and parts available in your VEX kit. Evaluate how well your robot meets the needs of the design brief and specification and make any necessary changes.

3 MAKING YOUR FINAL ROBOT PROTOTYPE
You are now going to create your final robot prototype using your VEX Robotics kit. Think carefully about how your robot will meet the design brief and remember the climate and geography that it will need to work in (i.e. how will it get over rough terrain etc). Think about how it will collect samples, store them and/or get them back to the main spaceship or base that it has come from. You will be judged on how well your robot meets some of these needs!

4 LESSON 06 EVALUATION OF YOUR ROBOT
In your teams check each point of your design specification. Does your robot meet each point? If so how well? What would you need to change for it to meet those points? Try to implement those changes before the end of the lesson.

5 OPTIONAL EXTRA ACTIVITY
If available think about how you can use sensors and programming to enhance how your robot will work. Visit the VEX Curriculum website for a comprehensive list of sensors and programming options that you might be able to make use of. A good example might be to use the bumper switch to prevent damage to the robot if it collides with rocks on the planet surface.

6 NEARLY THERE! You only have one more lesson now before your final presentation of your robot to the class! Team leaders must ensure that each member of the team knows exactly what they need to do next lesson to maximise the time available. This will include testing the robot and preparing your group presentation.
