1 Back to School Night Miss. Lofquist

2 Miscellaneous Bag of books- Students will keep their library books in this bag to carry to and from school each day. Take home folder- Students will use their folder to bring important information to and from school each day. Do not forget to pay the $10 PTC fee (Weekly Reader, Field Trips, and Parties) Wish List- Baby Wipes & Paper Towels Every Friday is a 50 cent bottom uniform buyout.

3 Homework Homework Bingo Calendar
Each week a calendar will be put on the back of the newsletter with different ideas to help your child at home. There needs to be 5 initialed by Friday in order for your child to receive a 100% in homework. The center box is a MUST do!

4 School/Classroom Expectations
P.B.I.S. = Positive Behavior Intervention System Basics: Every where in the school. Class Dojo- Positive & Negative Points I use this for communication tool since it is right on my phone and easy to use.

5 Transportation Please let us know when ways home change!
Send a note in the morning, or contact the school by 2:45 pm in order to make sure of the change. We have to see you before we let our students out of our line! Our afternoons are packed from 11:50-3:30 we are learning, so please schedule appointments in the afternoon.

6 Birthdays/Treats MUST be arranged ahead of time!
Please be aware of students with allergies. Provide for the whole class. (21 so far) No snack time in 1st Grade. Students will be hungry when they return home since we have first lunch at 11:20-11:50.

7 Sweaters and Items from home
Please NO toys, gum, candy or food in backpacks. (Unless it is for lunch or an arranged special occasion.) The building can be cold with the air conditioning on but students are to wear only school uniform colored sweaters/sweatshirts. (This is in the handbook.) We will be going outside unless the temperature is below 23 degrees. Please dress your students for the weather. (Boots, hats, gloves/mittens, snow pants)

8 Grade Breakdown These percentages are set by the district for every single subject. Homework 5% (Homework Calendar) Formative 35% (Observation, Participation, In class work, small groups) Summative 60% (Spelling & Phonics Tests, Math Mid/End Modules)

9 ELA Focus Common Core Standards
Reading, Writing, Phoneme Segmentation, Understanding Text, Sequencing Phonemic Awareness/Reading Foundational Skills Vocabulary & Comprehension Grammar Speaking and Listening

10 Math Focus Engage New York Common Core Standards Fluency
Counting to 120, Addition/Subtraction, Time, Shapes, Measurement Fluency Application Problems Concept Development

11 Science and Social Studies
STEM- Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Earth, Sun, Communities, Landforms, Transportation, Homes, Countries, Needs/Wants, Goods/Services, Producer/Consumer, Impact of money, Scientific Principals, Living/Nonliving things, Plants, Animals, Environments, Natural Resources, Reduce/Reuse/Recycle, Scholastic Weekly Readers (Anything that pertains to either subject) Nonfiction Stories
