2 Introduction Established in 2004.
A conglomerate of the colleagues and research facilities from related departments in Agriculture College. Only provides a Ph.D. program. Up to 5 local students per year are admitted to study the program (This recruit is Not included international students). 2009/12/24

3 Faculties There are four full-time faculties, including Director & Prof. Wen-Tien Tsai (Ph.D. of Environ. Eng., National Taiwan University) Prof. Hong- Lin Lee (Ph.D. of University of Wisconsin–Madison) Dr. Guo-Shiang Hung (Ph.D. of Biology, National Cheng Kung University) Dr. I-Ling Lai (Ph.D. of Ecology & Evolutionary Biology, National Taiwan Univ.) 2009/12/24

4 Facilities Based on the four full-time faculties, the GIB set four labs to provide a research and learning environment, where many sophisticated instruments and equipment are in use. They include -「Bioresources and Energy Technology Development Lab」(Tsai) -「Chemical Modification of Lignocellulosic Materials Lab」(Lee) -「Ecology and Evolution Research Lab」(Hung) -「Plant Physiology and Ecology Research Lab」(Lai) 2009/12/24

5 Curriculum Due to the interdisciplinary in the GIB, the design of the curriculum include four professional fields: - Forestry resource management - Animal (livestock/poultry) resource production - Agricultural biotechnology - Lignocellulosic materials Which emphasize both theory and practice. 2009/12/24

6 Features The GIB has three research & development features:
1. Bioresources conservation and management - Monitoring survey, functional maintenance and conserv. manage. - Sustainable use and disaster prevention between bioresources and human activities. 2. Bioresources development and utilization - Green & ecological materials and bioenergy. - High value-added utilization from a diversity of bioresources. 3. Technology research and industrial development - Biotechnology & pharmaceuticals. - Sustainable agriculture. 2009/12/24

7 Careers The GIB program aims at preparing graduate student for careers in a diversity of professional areas, including technology research, conservation and ecology research, product development, marketing management, educational promotion, etc. They can start a business, or could be employed by the governmental organizations, academic universities, environmental education promotion organizations, biotechnology enterprises, sustainable agriculture farms, green technology enterprises, and ecotourism & recreation enterprises. 2009/12/24
