1 Predicting Panda 2 Predict and Check 3 Predict and Check Look at the front cover and read the back blurb of your book. Write down 2 things that might happen in your story. What did you predict might happen in your story? Read p 2-7. Now check that you understand – what has happened in your story so far? How was Emma feeling? Who knocked on Emma’s door? What was the weather like? Look at the pictures on p 8-9. Now predict: How do you think the tiny thing is feeling? What do you think Emma will do to help? Now read p. 6-7 3. After you answer your questions: 3. Draw a picture of the soup on the table and the tiny thing hiding under the table. Add lots of detail. Finish reading your book Where do you think Emma went when she left the tiny thing? What are 3 things that happened when Emma woke up in the morning? Do you think the tiny thing is afraid of Emma any more? 7 Make Connections 8 Describing Feelings 9 Be Creative! The tiny thing was afraid of Emma at first. Think of a time when you were afraid of something. What were you afraid of? Who helped you when you were feeling afraid? How did they help you? Were you still afraid? Think about how the tiny thing feels during the story. How does it feel when it is outside at the beginning of the story? How does it feel when Emma lets it into the house? How does it feel at the end of the story? The Tiny Thing and Emma became friends. Think of 3 things they might do together. Draw a picture of each of these things (you should have 3 pictures). Write a sentence describing what Emma and the tiny thing are doing in each picture (you should have 3 sentences).
