Interactive and collaborative teaching method is minimal
Group learning system is not much encouraged
Minimal use of Edu. Technology by teachers and learners
Teachers are aware of modern pedagogical and technological models, but adoption of the same is minimal
Infrastructure is not supportive for new Educational models

3. Challenges……
Are we prepared to adopt KSAM Model (Sri Lankan model of HE)?
(KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ATTITUDES & MINDSET)
Some of the important indicators;
-Practicing student centered approach collaboration with student knowledge
- Educational technology and ICTs for T & L practices
- Adopting experiential learning into the T & L practices
- Contributing knowledge to the society through innovation
- Preparing students for employability and building life long skills

4. Challenges…
Making the university Centres of Excellence in specific areas
Contribution of R & D to the national development and MDGs
Create entrepreneurial model of operation and enhance entrepreneurial ability of the university
Acceptance of a desired level of self autonomy through financial stability
Venturing into pre university level - preparation of students at the school level
Incorporating industrial attachments and Independent learning components into the curriculum and,
Incorporating Blended Learning models

5. Readiness to change
READINESS 1 – Are the universities ready to change the direction of VISION & MISSION?
READINESS 2 - Are the teachers ready to adopt to the change dynamically?
READINESS 3 – Is the UGC ready to facilitate the change through policy, structure, legality and financial provision?
READINESS 4 – Are the students ready to collaborate with the change of T & L and Research?
