2 Preview To preview means to look at the page before you read to help you understand what it is about. This helps you when you are reading.

3 Look at the page quickly. Look at the heading.
To preview: Look at the page quickly. Look at the heading. (The heading is the title of the page.)

4 To preview: Look at the vocabulary words and their meanings.
Look at the picture and caption. (Captions are sentences under the pictures on the page. They describe what is happening in the picture.)

5 Ask yourself these questions:
What is the text about? What do I see in the picture? (The text is what you are reading.)

6 Now you already know something about the topic of the page
Now you already know something about the topic of the page. You are ready to read.
