2. How do you connect to the internet?
This question allowed the user taking the survey to choose more than one answer. Out of all the responses, no one has skipped this question and indicated that they make use of at least one of these methods to connect to the internet. On average, users select 2.3 of the 4 methods to connect to the internet. 19 of the 42 users make use of smartphones to connect to the internet

3. Where is the place where you make use of the internet the most
Where is the place where you make use of the internet the most? This is based on your preference and reliability of the internet connection.
Users were only allowed to make one selection. This had to be their choice of preference. The majority of individuals prefer the connection at home. This can indicate that the infrastructure at the majority of individuals’ residence is of such a nature that they prefer connecting to the internet there, based on aspects such as reliability.

4. How would you classify your level of skills when interacting with the internet?
Individuals had to choose the option that best describes their skills when navigating on the internet. Roughly 12% of individuals still requires assistance when navigating on the internet. The good news is that the majority of individuals are well acquainted with internet navigation. 0% are clueless or have poor internet skills.

5. Which of the following device do you make use of to connect to the internet?
Users had to select every device they use to connect to the internet. Results indicates that smartphones are seemingly more popular than desktop computers. This point to the aspect of modernization that has taken place and still gradually taking place. Users are becoming more mobile with their digital devices.
The average number of devices selected by the all in the survey is 2.68 out of 4 devices.

6. What is your order of preference for the above mentioned devices?
The aim of the question was to determine which of the devices users have a bias towards. From the results can be concluded that not all understood the question (only making partial selections) and 5 out of 42 individuals have skipped the question. Rankings below are on average based on user preference for the devices in question. Mobility is emphasised once again with light-weight devices being on top of the rankings with 16 out of 37 individuals preferring smartphones and 9 out of 37 preferring laptops/notebooks.

7. General remarks
Based on the results of the survey, it is clear that all have access to the internet. On average, individuals have more than one method of access to the internet. Some, however, only have internet access on their smartphones. In terms of utilising resources, they are not optimally utilising the campus’ resources to gain a better view of the internet.
Not all of the respondents have internet at home. Below 10 respondents only have access to the internet on campus (this excludes individuals who are only making use of smartphones to connect to the internet).
The most common method of access is smartphones, followed by ADSL connections on a laptop/notebook.
In my opinion, not all respondents are located in an area where internet facilities are available. These may range from individuals who reside in rural areas to individuals who are renting where no internet facilities are available, or they may be prohibited to install internet facilities, such as ADSL or Fibre connections.

8. General remarks (continued)
From the viewpoint of internet access at home, socio-economic factors surely plays a role in obtaining access to the internet. As mentioned on the previous slide, some may be located in areas where internet is not available.
Not every respondent had the same skill level when it comes to navigating on the internet, though the majority of respondents categorized themselves in the ‘Good’ skill category, which makes their level of skill above average (roughly 62%). 5 out of 42 respondents (roughly 12%) stated that they require assistance when making use of the internet.
There was a measure of correlation between the level of access to the internet and the level of skill, based on the ‘superiority’ of access.
