Find the missing factor

Repeated addition
3 sets of 2 = 6 2 sets of 3 = 6
= = 6
3(2) = 6 2(3) = 6
Arrays and area
What is the area of a rectangle where one side length is 2 and the other is 3?
How does this model generalize?

9. What does division mean?
How many groups?
Measurement division
Iain has 12 cookies. He will put four cookies in each treat bag. How many treat bags can he fill?
How much in each group?
Partitive division
Iain has 12 cookies. He needs to fill 4 treat bags. How many cookies will go in each bag?
Find the missing factor?
12 ÷ 6 = ? (Think 6 * ? = 12)

Identify opportunities for multiplication and division in the real world.
