4. JCSU STEM Conference
As part of the dissemination efforts of the current HBCU-UP implementation, Johnson C. Smith is to host two STEM conferences.
The first one was held on September 29 – October 1, 2011 in Charlotte, NC. The theme for this conference was Enhancing Our Global Impact through STEM Innovation. 
The purpose of this event was to bring together professionals and educators in STEM to share best practices in research collaborations and partnerships, and student successes.

5. JCSU STEM Conference
Approximately 100 STEM education advocates from across the country participated in this conference. 
The conference included a series of workshops as well as a trip to the North Carolina Research Campus in Kannapolis.
